Three Great Privileges of a Believer
Boldness, Access, Confidence
Ephesians 3:12-13 (English-KJV)
- In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
- Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians while a prisoner in Rome. In the first eleven verses of
chapter three Paul gives the reasons why he is not full of despair--- he is in God's hands. In
verse12, Paul concludes his very personal remarks to the Ephesians by assuring them that the
same privileges he enjoys with God are their privileges as well. Though the kings of earth may
jail us, the King of Kings allows us to come before him with boldness and confidence. What a
wonderful privilege!
- The Process Which Makes Our Prayers Pleasurable
- Boldness --- "to be free from all apprehension" No fear
- Access ----- "the privilege of entrance" No hesitation
- Confidence -- "an ease and comfort due to familiarity" No awkwardness
- The Person Who Makes Our Prayers Possible
"In whom we have boldness . . . by the faith of him (v.
12)
No one is able to come to God in prayer apart from Jesus Christ
- The Word of God declares this
John 14:6 "I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but
by me."
I Timothy 2:5 "There is one God, and one mediator between God and man,
the man Christ Jesus."
- The nature of God demands this
God is holy, and no sinner may approach Him apart from Christ.
The holiness and glory of God is revealed in the "shekinah" fire
"Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?" Isaiah 33:14
- The people of God desire this
No true Christian ever approaches God on his own merits
I Corinthians 16:22
Anethema --- "to be destroyed by a consuming fire"
Maranatha -- "even so come quickly, Lord"
- The Principles That Make Our Prayers Prevalent
- When you don't feel like praying --- remind yourself of Christ
- When you begin to pray --- thank God for the gift of Christ
- When the boldness, access, and confidence comes, enjoy!
