Genesis 1:20-25 (KJV)
  1. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
  2. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
  3. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
  4. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
  5. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
  6. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

"Dinosaurs in the Bible"

Genesis 1:20-25

The Bible says, "In six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them" (Exodus 20:11). On days five and six God made the animals, both great and small, that fill the earth and the oceans. "And God created great whales . . ." (v.21). The NIV translates this word "whale" as "great creatures of the sea." Everyone is fascinated with large animals such as dinosaurs. Some use the dinosaurs to seek to discredit the Bible, and it would do every Christian well to be able to give answers to the dinosaur questions.

  1. If you can't trust the creation account of Genesis 1, how can you trust John 3:16?
  2. If the Bible misleads you regarding the world, it could mislead you regarding Christ.

  1. Man and "dinosaurs" co-existed in the beginning.
This is contrary to what some would have you believe. "No human being has ever seen a live dinosaur" National Geographic, January 1993. But what is a dinosaur?
    1. Dinosaurs are giant reptiles and lizards.
Up until the flood of Noah's day, the world was very different than it is today.
      1. The environment was perfect with a canopy above the earth.
      2. The average age of man was over 900 years; animals lived long as well.
      3. It is a scientific fact that reptiles and lizards never cease growing.
      4. All animals, as well as man, were herbivorous in the beginning (1:29).
    2. Dinosuars are just a part of God's magnificent animal kingdom.
"God created great whales, and every living creature (of the waters)") (v.21).
"God made the beast of the earth . . . and every creature upon the earth" (v.25).
  2. The Bible uses different words to describe animals we call dinosaurs.
Whale (Genesis 1:21), Dragon (Deuteronomy 32:33), Leviathan (Psalm 74:14), Behemoth (Job 40:150> The word "dinosaur" was not used until 1841 by Sir Richard Owen. It was a word used by archeologists for the uncovered bones of a very large animal, and these terrible lizards (dinosaurs), became the "proof" of a world millions of years old.
  3. Most of the giant lizards disappeared after the flood for two major reasons.
Yes, Noah took two of every "kind" of land animals on the ark for repopulation.
    1. The climate changes after the flood caused reptiles to die young (and small).
After the flood the average age of humans went from 900, 400, 200, then 100. The same could be said for reptiles and lizards during the post-flood years.
    2. Humans hunted and killed dragons after the flood (for meat and protection).
These are all the world-wide stories of men hunting dragons. As the human population expanded, the dinosaur population rapidly decreased. Stories such as Gilgomesh, Daniel, Yu from China, Siegried from Norway, Marco Polo in China, the city of Nerluc, France, the Grand Canyon drawings, and the Nasca Burial Stones, are evidence of a worldwide effort to rid the earth of dinosaurs.
    3. There could still be some "giant lizards" (dinosaurs) living in the wild.
Fisherman from Japan have pulled "sea monsters" from the sea, and natives in the Congo of Africa tell of "large lizards." The Genesis account is accurate.
