I Am Loved

LOVE . . . A strong feeling of affection, pleasure, and tender attachment.

Broadly speaking, there are two types of love:
Conditional Love . . . (Love) which rises or falls due to the lovableness of the one being loved.
Unconditional Love . . . (Love) which is given due to the nature of the one loving rather than the one loved.

What kind of love does God have for His people?
  1. God's love for His people is unconditional.
"But God commendeth His love toward us, int hat while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
"God's love is not drawn out by our lovableness, but wells up, like an artesian spring, from the depths of His nature." - Alexander MacLaren
  2. God's love for His people is eternal.
"I have loved thee with an everlasting love" (Jeremiah 31:3).
"God loved us when there was nothing good to be seen in us and nothing good to be said for us." - John Blanchard
  3. God's love for His people is personal.
"Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated" (Romans 9:13).

An illustration of God's love for His people is found in Psalm 139.
    1. He has searched me and known me.
    2. How precious are His thoughts for me.
The word 'precious' means rare. How rare is the love of God.

*Remember, we must always seek to be Biblical.
God's love for His people must be distinguished from his wrath for those who are not His people!

IN OTHER WORDS, GOD DOES NOT LOVE THE PERSON IN HELL AS MUCH AS HE DOES THE BELIEVER.
"As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated" (Romans 9:13).

"God is angry with the wicked every day" (Psalm 7:11).

"The reality of God's wrath is as much a part of the Biblical message as is God's grace." - Leighton Ford

Though God punishes the wicked, "He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked" (Ezekiel 33:11).

If God has chosen to set His love upon you, nothing, let me say this again, nothing shall separate you from His love which is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:33-39).

*THEN YOU MIGHT ASK THIS QUESTION: WHY SHOULD I REFRAIN FROM SIN?

ANSWER: THE NEW COVENANT EVANGELISTIC MOTIVATION FOR DOING GOOD OR BEING OBEDIENT IS NEVER THE LOSS OF GOD'S LOVE IF YOU DON'T, BUT RATHER:
    1. "We love Him, because He first loved us" (I John 4:19).
The more you see His love for you, the more you love Him and obey Him.
    2. "The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance"(Romans 2:4).
It is His benevolent kindness that breaks the heart.
    3. The long rod of correction hurts (Hebrews 12:6). The strong-willed child does not lose the love of his father, but gains the loving discipline and correction of his father.

Finally, the evidence of God's love for you is your faith and repentance from sin. Without these, no person may rightfully claim to be loved by God. (I John 5:2, II John 6, I John 2:15).
